Villa Catignano wedding in Tuscany – the background

This marvellous event full of colour and joy begins with a welcome dinner at Villa di Geggiano, a few steps away from Villa Catignano.
In the Italian garden of the villa there is a long imperial table decorated with beautiful red roses and candles.

During the welcome dinner a pianist plays music on a grand piano and occationally a soprano singer, friend of Lisa and Niklas, sings some beautiful songs for the newlyweds.

This beautiful couple from Sweden who will be getting married tomorrow. All the guests enjoy the informal atmosphere and they socialize and talk with all the friends and family.

The BIG day

The big day has arrived, everything is ready at Villa Catignano.
Villa Catignano is a 17th century villa and is the perfect backdrop for this day. The bride is a designer full of ideas and with the invaluable help of “Sabrina of The Extraordinaire” today the atmosphere of this place is even more magical!

The groom is getting ready at Villa Catignano while the bride is in the same villa where the welcome dinner was held yesterday. Today there will be many trips to be made. We start with the shooting of details that today are different from the usual, really very original and make the work even more stimulating. Not to mention the bride’s dress, so original and absolutely wonderful!

I film the bridegroom and his best men while they are getting ready. Niklas is truly a loving dad and once he is ready, he helps his children with the last things.

The beautiful bride dress

We go back to the other villa and the bride is ready, her hair and make-up are perfect. Her mother helps her put on the dress. A pair of enchanting emerald earrings blend in perfectly with the rest of her attire. When the bride’s father arrives, he is without words looking at his daughter’s stunning and original transformation, which highlights her beauty even more. Of course I don’t want to miss a second of these magic and emotional moments and with great discretion I film all.

We move towards the Italian gardens of Villa Catignano for the wedding ceremony. Lisa has a magnificent bouquet which is just perfect with her wedding dress. Before walking down the aisle the bride looks for her children and greets them tenderly. And I catch this too.

Usually Villa Catignano weddings take place in the lemon garden. The bride and groom go down the stone steps that lead to the Italian gardens, passing next to the four statues that are in the first part of the gardens opposite a long nave. The nave is the ideal entrance for a wedding ceremony. In the background the set is splendid with an abundance of flowers, colours and incredible details.

As soon as the guests sit down, the groom and his two best men enter the scene followed by the two children, the bride’s maid and finally the bride herself accompanied by her father and daughter. As they arrive, the groom is really emotional. It is an unforgettable ceremony and, it’s whole event takes on an even more important meaning with the couple celebrating together with their children.

A thunderstorm arrives!

Everything carries on to perfection and upon leaving the ceremony, the guests celebrate the couple by throwing large handfuls of petals at them. Immediately afterwards, however, as we are about to take group pictures, a large dark cloud moves above us and it starts to rain.

The rain increases in intensity and so the reception drinks which should have taken place in the gardens, needs be moved inside the main villa. Everyone is calm and enjoying himself. While waiting for the storm to pass Lisa, Niklas and their guests take refreshments with delicious canapés and prosecco.

After the first storm another one arrives! The guests who have gone back out in the meantime don’t care too much. Julian Bower, the photographer and co-organizer of the magnificent event and I, take photos and video footage of the couple. After having filmed them on the driveway in front of the villa we take them to the gardens for a short walk. Villa Catignano is a magical venue for a wedding in Tuscany.

Villa Catignano wedding Tuscany: A romantic dinner full of fun moments

Due to the bad weather which carried on for hours, the dinner is late. The spouses prefer to wait for the rain to end so they may dine in the courtyard of the villa. After the all the hard work decorating and preparing the dinner area, it would be a shame to have to dine inside the villa.

The dinner is sumptuous, there are many speeches and between one dish and the other there are moments of entertainment. During the banquet the bride’s mother exhilaratingly plays the part Swedish singer singing to the couple perfectly, imitating the character.

Shortly after, the guests get up to sing a song dedicated to the bride and groom in their own language. Of course we do not understand Swedish but we recognize the names of the spouses in the song, sung at the top of their voices by the guests who are waving Swedish and Italian flags. Absolutely no chance of getting bored, the entertainment is never ending and the spouses are delighted. This is probably one of the best wedding party I ever done here, remembering all the Villa Catignano weddings I’ve filmed!

After the cake is cut, it is the moment of the first dance. Theirs is a truly romantic first dance and the scenery created by the beautiful lights illuminating the couple is wonderful. Half way through the dance the song changes rhythm and the real party begins. The bride and groom set off towards the inner hall and the guests line up, following them, forming a festive “little train”. The cheerful group moves towards the inner rooms where both the dance floor and the open bar have been set up. The dance party will continue until late. We take the last shots and then leave them to their happy light-heartedness.
